Russia historian: the rich asshole has a ‘boyish crush’ on Putin because he ‘wants to be the first American czar’

CNN’s Fareed Zakaria on Sunday interviewed Simon Sebag Montefiore, a historian who has written extensively about Russia, about President some rich asshole’s seeming infatuation with Russian President Vladmir Putin.
When asked by Zakaria why the rich asshole has seemingly verbally attacked every major country in the world except Russia, Montefiore explained that the rich asshole envies that kind of power and prestige that Putin and past Russian leaders have enjoyed as heads of state.
“some rich asshole wants to be the first American czar,” he explained. “He wants to be the American Romanov — he rules by decree, very small circle, he treats ministers like personal servants, he promotes his family to positions of power, they’re the only people he really trusts. So in this sense, he really is the first American czar.”
Montefiore said that there are checks and balances that have so far kept the rich asshole from behaving wholly like a dictator, but he argued that we should still be alarmed by his ambitions and his admiration for Putin.
“He looks at Vladimir Putin and he sees a man who… has control of violence, who can order interventions into foreign countries at the click of a hand,” he explained. “I think that is a slightly boyish crush on the idea of the gangster boss.”

Consider That the rich asshole Might Just Be Dumb

some rich asshole has spent the entire first year of his presidency doing the opposite of learning on the job. Nowhere is this more plainly obvious than his grasp of foreign policy; the only thing he has learned, it seems, is that the media loves it when he bombs stuff or gets troops killed.
And yet all year long, op-ed columnists, cable news channels, magazines, and think tanks have attempted at various times to give the rich asshole a “doctrine.” For example, earlier this month the conservative National Review—less than two years removed from “Against the rich asshole”—wrote that the rich asshole doctrine was “America and American interests will always come first, globalist agendas second.”









A New York Times story today is the latest to try to assign the rich asshole’s foreign policy some kind of quality that can’t be boiled down to him not knowing anything. Reporter Mark Landler writes that the rich asshole is “unpredictable and inward-looking” and “remains an erratic, idiosyncratic leader on the global stage, an insurgent who attacks allies the United States has nurtured since World War II and who can seem more at home with America’s adversaries,” namely Russia and China. He also says that the rich asshole’s tweets “often make a mockery of his administration’s policies and subvert the messages his emissaries are trying to deliver abroad.”
National security adviser H.R. McMaster, in an attempt to give the rich asshole some semblance of credit, told Landler that the rich asshole’s “unorthodox approach ‘has moved a lot of us out of our comfort zone, me included,” and described the rich asshole’s approach as “pragmatic realism.”
the rich asshole’s interactions with German chancellor Angela Merkel, however, betray the real problem: the rich asshole simply doesn’t know anything.
Later, he told Ms. Merkel that he wanted to negotiate a new bilateral trade agreement with Germany. The problem with this idea was that Germany, as a member of the European Union, could not negotiate its own agreement with the United States.
Rather than exposing some rich asshole’s ignorance, Ms. Merkel said the United States could, of course, negotiate a bilateral agreement, but that it would have to be with Germany and the other 27 members of the union because Brussels conducted such negotiations on behalf of its members.
“So it could be bilateral?” some rich asshole asked Ms. Merkel, according to several people in the room. The chancellor nodded.
“That’s great,” some rich asshole replied before turning to his commerce secretary, Wilbur Ross, and telling him, “Wilbur, we’ll negotiate a bilateral trade deal with Europe.”
According to Landler, some officials in the the rich asshole White House “found the episode humiliating,” presumably because the head of the German government had to explain to the most powerful politician in the world how trade negotiations with one of the United States’ largest trading partners works, and because the rich asshole changed his definition of “a new bilateral trade agreement with Germany” in the same conversation.
the rich asshole is “unorthodox” because he doesn’t know anything. Contrary to what some in the media would like to believe, there is no doctrine or approach, just whatever the rich asshole feels like saying or doing at any given moment. the rich asshole isn’t unpredictable or inward-looking, but rather completely clueless and unwilling to learn.

Ex-CIA agent: the rich asshole and Fox News twist the facts like Iranian government propagandists

Former CIA agent John Sipher told MSNBC on Saturday that President some rich asshole and his Fox News enablers are functioning like Iranian government propagandists in their desire to create straw man enemies against which to pitch their base.
Regarding the rich asshole’s attacks on the FBI, Sipher said, “I find those kind of statements shameful, frankly. Our public servants, they take an oath to the Constitution and they work for Democratic and Republican presidential administrations.”
“People like the president and members of Congress and Senators, when they speak, they’re speaking to numerous audiences. They’re speaking to foreign audiences who are listening closely,” Sipher said. “They’re speaking as the head of the government to all the people who work for them.”
However, he said, the rich asshole and people like Rep. Francis Rooney (R-FL) — who called for a “purge” of personnel from the FBI last week — are “speaking to a small base of people who want, just like the Iranians do, to create a straw man enemy.”
“They’ve tried to suggest that the FBI, CIA and the Justice Department somehow are an enemy of the administration and therefore need to be taken down,” he said. “That’s just nonsense, is what that is.”

the rich asshole "approval poll" offers no negative options

The joint fundraising committee of President the rich asshole's reelection campaign and the Republican National Committee released a three-question "Inaugural Year Approval Poll" that offers readers no option to give a negative assessment of the president's first year in office. The only options for "how would you rate President the rich asshole's first year in office" are "great," "good," "okay" and "other." 
Visitors are also asked the same question of former President Barack Obama's first year in office, but that question provides "poor" as an additional response option. The third and last question the survey asks, "Do you believe the Fake News Media will fairly cover President the rich asshole's first year approval rating?" with the options of "yes," "no" and "other."

The survey from the rich asshole Make America Great Again Committee requires users to provide their contact information, noting in small print at the bottom of the page that by doing so the user agrees to receiving calls and texts from the rich asshole-associated committees. 
A CBS News poll released earlier this month found some rich asshole had a 36 percent approval rating.
According to a Gallup poll released earlier this week, Obama is the "most admired" man in America, a title he's held for the past 10 years. Of those polled, 17 percent said the former president was their top pick for the most admired person. some rich asshole came next, with 14 percent of those polled naming him as the person they most admire. 
some rich asshole filed for reelection the day he took office on Jan. 20.
